Blogs are great! As you stated, you can start one for no cost and it is a perfect platform for anyone to post their thoughts.
One of the best parts about blogging is that it is a two way street. With the comments it becomes interactive and dynamic.
And Google loves dynamic sites. (Just one more advantage)
